Snowman

Who knew that 30 degrees could feel so pleasant? After the rather cold days we've had here lately, it felt pretty nice outside this morning at around 30 degrees. However, it was cold enough that there were still a few inches of snow on the ground, so we were able to build Landon a teeny tiny snowman. And unlike the last few times we've gone out in the snow, he was willing to walk around in it and touch it. He even made mini snowballs to throw on the ground and at the fence. The swing set was snow-free, so he also spent time swinging and sliding, which reminded us that spring will be here soon.

Snow!

We finally had enough snow to play in, snow boots for Landon, and temps that weren't frigid, so this afternoon we played in the snow. It wasn't good for making snowballs at all, but Landon enjoyed being pulled around in his little sled.

This evening we made this snowman picture. I cut the circles and he glued them on. He drew on two eyes, a mouth, and buttons. This is the first time that he's done representational drawing like that. Afterward, he used a paint dotter to add snowflakes to the picture.

We also got out our Valentines Day craft kits (from another craft co-op) and make a Valentines puppy puppet.

South for the Winter

We've seen a lot of geese flying south lately, and each time, Landon stops to watch. Today we talked about the geese and how they fly in a 'V' formation. I drew a 'V' on blue paper with glue, and Landon stuck clipart geese that I'd printed onto the glue. (The clip art came from here. They're not the most attractive geese, but they were the best I could find.)

Fort

If you're looking for something fun to do on a winter day when you're stuck inside, try making a fort. Daddy built Landon a fort tonight. Landon gathered up the blankets, then Daddy put them over the card table. They played Memory and read books in there. Landon even ate his snack inside the fort.
