Rain, rain, rain

It's been raining all evening, so we did a raindrop painting project tonight. Landon and I pressed the sponge brush down together. He enjoyed saying, "Dab, dab, dab," each time.

Instructions for making this project are in the Crafts section of the Toddler Celebrations Spring page. Thanks for looking at Landon's artwork!

Easter and Spring projects

Here are two projects we did the week before Easter.

Painted egg project that we did over several days' time, adding one color each day:

Here is our colored paper/contact paper Easter egg project:

More information on both these projects is available in the Crafts section of the Toddler Celebrations Easter page.

Now that Easter's over, it's time for Spring projects.

This week at playgroup, Landon colored a picture of an umbrella, then added blue paint raindrops to the picture:

I made Landon a bird's nest out of an oatmeal can and bluebirds out of clothespins. We talked about how birds live in nests and looked at pictures of them. Then I showed him how to drop the clothespin birds into their nest. He also likes to shake the nest, so the birds fly out.

Learn how I made the nest game in the Activities section of the Toddler Celebrations Spring page.

Easter pictures

Landon had a good Easter. Here are some pictures from yesterday's celebrations.

He particularly enjoyed seeing the eggs he'd dyed in his basket. In this picture, he's probably pretending to taste the egg and saying, "Like it." He did that several times.

Here he is with his basket. He got a set of cds of kids' songs, bubbles, 2 Sesame Street DVDs, Sesame Street stickers, apple juice boxes, crayons, and his dyed eggs, of course.

How handsome is he in his suit!?:)

At church we worked on coloring flowerpots. He only made about two marks on his, though, so we finished it together at home this evening.

Grandma and Papa came over for lunch.

Landon did a fabulous job of hunting for eggs. He knew just what he was doing. Our "practice" on Saturday really did the trick. Inside the eggs were Goldfish, dried fruit, Cheerios, or fruit snacks.

We hope you had a blessed Easter, too!

Easter is upon us!

Tomorrow is Easter, and we've been busy celebrating this week. On Tuesday, we had a little Easter party at playgroup, and Landon and I brought chick-shaped graham crackers to share.

Yesterday we dyed eggs. Landon would help us place the eggs into the dye. His favorite part, though, was playing with his own mug of water and a spoon while he waited for the eggs to be ready. He stirred it and tasted it and said it was, "'Liscous" (delicious). Today if you ask him what he did with the eggs, he says, "Made art," or, "Made that."

This morning, we did some playing with plastic eggs: comparing sizes, sorting colors, etc. I "hid" some of them for him to find, too.

What else have we been doing? We've been working on a collage of Easter stickers, we made an egg with clear contact paper and colored paper scraps, and he's been coloring a bunny picture. We have a big painted egg work-in-progress. When it's finally done, I'll post a picture.

Happy Easter!

Welcome!

Welcome to the Toddler Celebrations blog! I'll be sharing what activities we've been up at our house.
